An Athlete Who Combines Performance and Versatility

A future inspirational figure in the world of swimming, Laura is a highly promising elite athlete. The 18-year-old swimmer will be supported by the Softway Medical Group throughout the 2024/2025 season. She will proudly represent the company on French and international podiums as well as in her social media communications.

Laura Gourgeon demonstrated her immense potential during the French Junior Championships held in Massy from Thursday, 5 December to Monday, 9 December, achieving remarkable results:

Historic Performances:

  • French 18-year-old Champion in the 1500m freestyle (5th best performance of all time in a 25m pool)
  • French 18-year-old Champion in the 800m freestyle (7th best performance of all time in a 25m pool)

Remarkable Versatility:

  • French 18-year-old Champion in the 400m freestyle
  • French 18-year-old Vice-Champion in the 200m freestyle
  • Bronze medallist in the 50m butterfly, showcasing her ability to excel outside her main events

Immersed in the Cercle des Nageurs de La Ciotat since the age of 7, and later trained by the Pays d’Aix Natation club, Laura Gourgeon now trains at the elite training centre in Martigues under the guidance of Philippe Lucas. At just 18 years old and currently pursuing a distance-learning degree in Psychology, she is a triple Junior French Champion in 2024 for the 1500m, 800m, and 400m freestyle and has secured her first Elite French Championship title across all categories in the 1500m. Her ultimate goal: to represent France at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
